Job Description:

SUMMARY

This position reports directly to the Director of Social Services and provides support for the programs within this department. This position is responsible for assisting Tribal Members and their families with finding Tribal and community resources to help various social service needs. This position also assists the Director with various tasks as assigned.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist programs to plan and implement program activities in Coos Bay, Florence and Eugene, including educational presentations, tables/booths at Tribal/community events, after-school programs and Tribal youth camps.
  • Provide administrative support for Social Service projects.
  • Prepare articles and other materials for submission to the monthly Tribal newsletter related to the activities and subject matter content for the Social Services Department.
  • Assist the programs in the collection of data and preparation of reports to measure program against program goals and objectives and to meet grant requirements.
  • As directed, may be required to attend meetings and trainings within the scope of practice and program goals for this position.
  • Manage program and client records according to Tribal policy and in compliance with grant funding requirements.
  • Maintain appearance standards as outlined in CTCLUSI policies.
  • Must be able to interact with Tribal members and the general public in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain a good attendance record.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Moderate noise level with frequent interruptions and distractions.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds.

Experience and Skills:

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • At least two years of experience in an administrative support role.
  • Associate’s degree or higher in a human services field (social services, prevention, early childhood education, psychology, addictions, behavioral or mental health) is preferred.
  • Work experience with children, adolescents and/or behavioral/mental health is preferred.
  • Experience in organizing and planning activities and events is preferred.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Word, Outlook, Publisher and Excel required.
  • Must be willing to complete National Incident Management System (NIMS) training for NIMS certification as arranged by the Tribes.
  • This is a covered position and will be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal history background check which will include fingerprinting.
  • Must possess reasonable ability to communicate in English.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Indian preference will be observed in the hiring process.
