Job Description:

SUMMARY

The Clinic Manager is responsible for providing leadership and coordinating comprehensive nursing care in collaboration with providers. The role supports patient and family education while working closely with nursing, ancillary, and other care team members while ensuring professional nursing practice meets established clinical standards, procedures, and departmental goals.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership responsibilities:

  • Demonstrates empathy, professionalism, and excellent communication with Tribal Members, the public, and staff.
  • Provides mentoring, supervision, and training for team members.
  • Defines and maintains clear team roles, responsibilities and workflows.
  • Leads and supports process improvements, workflow standardization, and SOP development.
  • Conducts workflow and chart audits; reviewing and updating policies/procedures for compliance.
  • Applies problem-solving and critical thinking to support staff with processes and technology.
  • Fosters a trust-based, collaborative team environment; effectively managing conflict.
  • Oversees onboarding, skills assessments, and training of new staff.
  • Leads team meetings, huddles, and committee participation.
  • Ensures excellent customer services to clients, vendors, and partners.
  • Tracks and maintains staff certifications, training, and compliance requirements.
  • Supports Quality Program reporting and implementing PDSA workgroups at clinic level with appropriate stakeholders.
  • Completes employee performance reviews.
  • Applies knowledge for safety protocols and CPT coding to support team operations.

Clinical responsibilities:

  • Ensures smooth clinic operations, including staffing and workflows.
  • Manages ordering and inventory of vaccines, medications, and supplies using TRHC resource systems.
  • Conducts clinic compliance to include monitoring quality controls, equipment maintenance, emergency supplies, monthly walkthroughs, and clinical supply inventory.
  • Supports clinic operations to include direct and indirect patient care and support of absent clinic staff as needed.
  • Supports and standardizes workflows in the electronic medical record (EMR); troubleshooting and resolving EMR issues in collaboration with Clinical Informatics
  • Supports and monitors clinical and nonclinical EPM and EHR tasks for all clinical roles.
  • Provides comprehensive nursing care across the interdisciplinary departments, including triage (in-person/phone), crisis intervention, and emergency response.
  • Delivers patient-centered care that respects individual rights, values, culture, and needs.
  • Develops, implements, and revises patient care plans; involving patients and families in decision-making.
  • Assesses and manages patients physical, psychological, and social needs, including pain management.
  • Administers medication(s) and vaccine(s) and treatments safely; maintaining quality control with accurate and timely documentation.
  • Reviews patient history, diagnostics, and lab data; identifying and escalating abnormalities.
  • Educates patients and families on managing conditions and treatment plans in alignment of providers plan of care.
  • Supports Referral Coordinator to help facilitate referrals in collaboration with providers.
  • Maintains compliance with evidence-based practiced within the professional nursing standards, federal and state regulations, and documentation requirements.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Ability to safely operate and work with standard nursing equipment and supplies, including thermometers, blood pressure monitors, scales, and syringes.
  • May involve the use of patient care equipment and assistive devices such as walkers, wheelchairs, ventilators, pulse oximeters, and oxygen tanks.
  • Requires frequent standing, walking, reaching, bending, and lifting.
  • Must be able to perform a full range of body movements, including handling and manually lifting patients when necessary.
  • Ability to push, pull, lift and carry up to 40 pounds.
  • Requires fine motor skills, good hand-eye coordination, and finger dexterity to operate medical instruments and perform clinical tasks.
  • Requires corrected vision and hearing within normal ranges: vision must include the ability to see up close and adjust focus.
  • Must be able to walk, talk, hear, and use hands and arms to handle or operate objects, tools, and controls.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Combination of office and exam settings.
  • Work may involve exposure to medical preparations and typical conditions of a clinical environment.
  • May be required to work in locations other than Three Rivers Health Center, such as schools or at an outreach work location.
  • Must be willing and able to work long hours, which may include evenings and weekends.
  • Must be willing and able to travel both locally and within the CTCLUSI service delivery area.
  • May be required to attend meetings, conferences and Tribal events.

Experience and Skills:

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

Must be 18 years of age or older.

  • Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Minimum of five (5) year of clinical nursing experience.
  • Previous management or leadership experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations: experience in a tribal healthcare setting preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets and resources effectively.
  • Excellent organizational, time-management, and multitasking skills.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Ability to remain composed and effective in high-stress situations.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adherence to ethical standards.
  • Current CPR and BLS certifications.
  • Experience and proficiency in the use of Microsoft products (excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, etc).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English, verbally, inwriting or by other acceptable.
  • This is a safety sensitive position and will be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal history background check, which will include fingerprinting.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Tribal preference will be observed in the hiring process.
