Job Description:

SUMMARY

This position responsible for compassionately assessing and developing plans to assist tribal members affected by poverty, neglect, domestic violence, child abuse, mental health issues, substance abuse, and parental substance abuse. A key component of this position is to initiate support plans and coordinate continued wrap around services.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist clients in receiving services by telephone and in person.
  • Assess clients and gathering relevant information.
  • Create service plans by working with clients to address needs.
  • Coordinate services with other agencies and provide referrals where needed.
  • Create and maintain accurate records as they pertain to service and grant funding where applicable.
  • Provide crisis intervention.
  • Participate in training, supervision, and meetings.
  • Develop and implement prevention activities as needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of internal and community resources.
  • Must be able to interaction with Tribal Members and the general public in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality standards.
  • Professionally communicate with referral sources and staff of partner agencies.
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the essential functions of this position, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, and hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • The vision requirements include: close vision, peripheral vision and ability to adjust focus.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Moderate noise level with frequent interruptions and distractions.

HOURS

  • 40 hours per week.
  • Generally Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm with possible occasional evening and weekend work.

Experience and Skills:

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 25 years of age.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Services, or related field is required.
  • At least two years of experience with clients that are affected by poverty, neglect, child abuse, domestic violence, mental health related issues, and substance abuse.
  • Computer proficient, including MS Word, Access, Excel, Outlook and Publisher.
  • Must complete National Incident Management System (NIMS) training for NIMS certification as arranged by the Tribes.
  • Valid Oregon driver’s license, adequate transportation, and eligibility to operate GSA vehicles required. This position may include providing transportation for Native and non-Native American clients in tribally owned vehicle(s).
  • Must possess reasonable ability to communicate in English.
  • This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing.
  • This is a covered position which requires background check that includes fingerprinting.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Indian preference will be observed in the hiring process.
