Job Description:

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for providing support to program directors and managers related to grant management and reporting. Requires collaborating with Tribal Government Department in the accounting for all fiscally related grant activities.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for managing assigned grants/contracts. Monitoring post-award requests regarding carry-over of unobligated funds, no cost extensions, indirect cost rate cap if any.
  • Monitor and report financial performance of grants to Departmental Management on a periodic basis and to granting agencies as required in grant agreements.
  • Catalog and maintain comprehensive files on grants, grant contracts, and grant contract performance as requested.
  • Assist with preparation of the annual Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards for auditors.
  • Prepare and forward invoices to grant agencies pursuant to contracts as directed.
  • Drawdown of funds from Federal awards at least monthly - based on an analysis of grant expenditures in the preceding month for assigned grants.
  • Monitor fiscal activity for any anomalies and report to the Chief Financial Officer.
  • Posting journal entries to General Ledger as needed per established fiscal policy.
  • Prepare regular budget performance reports to management as requested.
  • Participate in trainings as needed.
  • Be current on Tribal Finance Department accounting systems and requirements.
  • Advise Management on changes or improvement.
  • Work collaboratively and cooperatively with all of the Tribal Finance Department personnel and with all Tribal and Three Rivers Casino staff, always acting in the best interests of the Tribes.
  • Maintain appearance standards as outlined in CTCLUSI policies.
  • Must be able to interact with Tribal members and the general public in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Maintain a good attendance record.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderately quiet.

HOURS

  • 40 hours per week.
  • Generally Monday through Friday 8am to 5pm.

Experience and Skills:

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Position requires Associates Degree in Accounting or Business (or related field). Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • Minimum of two years of accounting experience required, grant management and knowledge of governmental accounting including fund accounting preferred.
  • Must be proficient in MS Office applications.
  • Preferred working knowledge of ABILA MIP accounting software.
  • Valid driver's license or adequate transportation, and eligibility to operate GSA vehicles required.
  • This is a non-covered position and will be subject to pre-employment drug testing and criminal history background check.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Indian preference will be observed in the hiring process.
