Job Description:

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for coordination of programs related to domestic violence, violence against women, and interpersonal violence/sexual assault. Responsible for developing and implementing all elements of the Tribal domestic/interpersonal violence program and working with Tribal/community partners and coalitions. Responsible for providing education to Tribal members to promote greater awareness of the issues of domestic violence, interpersonal violence, and sexual assault. This position works with the other members of the Family Services team to provide a wide range of other social services programs.

PRINCIPAL ACTIVITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, implement and manage a Tribal domestic/interpersonal violence program, working with state and federal grant agencies and Tribal partners/coalitions.
  • Coordinate Tribal member access to a continuum of cultural-based sexual and domestic violence prevention and treatment services, including information and referral services.
  • Responsible for management of federal and state grants, including quarterly and annual reports and financial management of grant funds.
  • Establish support groups for victims/survivors of interpersonal violence, using culturally-based methods such as talking circles.
  • Work with other departments within CTCLUSI Tribal government to provide access to services across the continuum available in the Tribal and the local communities.
  • Responsible for assessment, resource development, program deployment, impact evaluation and program refinement, as related to various grants and programs.
  • Responsible for case management for a variety of programs within the Family Services Department.
  • Maintain appearance standards as outlined in CTCLUSI policies.
  • Must be able to interact with Tribal members and the general public in a courteous, professional, and efficient manner.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Maintain a good attendance record.
  • Other duties as directed by management.

PHYSICAL & MENTAL DEMANDS

  • Must be able to walk, talk, hear, use hands to handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
  • May be required to push, pull, lift, and/or carry up to 40 pounds.

WORKING CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT

  • Moderate noise level with frequent interruptions and distractions.

Experience and Skills:

MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • 25 years of age or older per vehicle use policy.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Services, Psychology, Counseling or related field OR four years relative experience.
  • Specialized experience and/or education working with domestic violence, interpersonal violence and/or sexual assault victims/survivors is required.
  • One year of verifiable supervisory experience to include social services program and at least 2 staff.
  • Experience working with one or more of the following issues: Child Abuse, Substance/alcohol abuse, Youth A/D Prevention, Family Violence, Poverty, or Domestic Violence.
  • National Indian Child Welfare Act (NICWA) (on-line web course) certification or have a willingness to secure such certification following hire.
  • Computer proficient, including MS Word, Access, Excel, Outlook and Publisher.
  • Complete National Incident Management System (NIMS) training for NIMS certification as arranged by the Tribes.
  • Valid driver’s license, adequate transportation, and eligibility to operate GSA vehicles required. This position includes providing transportation for clients in tribally-owned motor vehicle(s).
  • Possess reasonable ability to communicate in English.
  • This position is subject to pre-employment drug testing.
  • This is a covered position which requires background check and fingerprinting.
  • Must have employment eligibility in the U.S.
  • Indian preference will be observed in the hiring process.
